Protect Dogs This Winter
It’s a heartbreaking reality. Every year, there are countless cases of animals being found chained up outside in freezing temperatures, no food or water or warm shelter in sight. Many of them being found only after it was too late — they’d already froze to death.
Oscar was left outside in 20-degree freezing temperatures in Baltimore, Maryland. The necropsy, paid for by the Animal Legal Defense Fund, proved in court that Oscar died of hypothermia and his death was preventable.
Oscar’s abuser was sentences to six months of supervised probation, a $500 fine, and a $2,260 payment for forensic veterinary services. He is also barred from possessing animals for three years — a key victory.
Every year, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is contacted about severe neglect cases just like these. It’s imperative that we have the necessary resources and funds in place to answer these calls for help.
