“An Act Relative to Pesticides” amendment (Amendment #222 to H. 3900 state budget bill for fiscal year 2024) will:

  • prioritize science-based animal management and reduce the use of rodenticides. It also requires digitization of pesticide use forms for better monitoring of the use of Second-Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs).

Why is this amendment important? Rodenticide is not only a painful death for the animals who consume the poison directly, but many non-target animals can be impacted by consuming poisoned animals. Focusing efforts on science-based humane methods of animal management is more humane and better for the environment.
