Urgent Action: Tell USDA and USFWS to Rescue Lions Languishing in Roadside Zoo
This action is for residents of all U.S. states and territories.
The Sharkarosa Zoo, a roadside zoo in Texas, is keeping two white lions, Nzuri and Kali, who are suffering from severe medical conditions. The video below shows one lion, Nzuri, unable to stand or walk without swaying and stumbling, where she falls over and struggles to right herself.
ALDF has filed a complaint with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), calling on the agencies to investigate probable Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA) violations and ensure the lions are safely transported to a Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries-accredited sanctuary that can provide them the safe housing and urgent specialized care they require.
Email the USDA and USFWS below to urge them to confiscate Nzuri and Kali and ensure they are safely transported to an appropriate sanctuary to get the care they need.
