Rhode Island Veterinary Professionals: Support a ban on unnecessary cat declawing today!
This action is for Rhode Island residents only.
Cat declawing is very rarely medically necessary, and the Rhode Island legislature is currently considering a bill to ban unnecessary cat declawing. This legislation, H.B. 7052/S.B. 2007, would allow for declawing in those rare circumstances when the procedure is necessary to protect the cat’s health.
The Rhode Island Senate passed this bill in April 2024 and now it is up to the House of Representatives to protect cats from the pain and frustration that often comes with unnecessary declawing. Send a message to your state representative and two other key legislators below urging them to support this bill.
Personalized messages are more effective. Please customize the copy to add details about your veterinary experience and sign your name, title and affiliated veterinary practice to increase your impact.
This action is for veterinary professionals only. If you are not a veterinarly professional, but want to take action for cats, visit our Rhode Island residents action center.
