The Animal Legal Defense Fund is heartbroken watching the impact of the recent natural disasters unfolding on news and social media, and hearing reports from our staff, supporters, friends, and family in the impacted regions. Although we recognize that healing from the devastation takes a long time, we are inspired by the way the communities continue to rebuild, and would like to take the opportunity to guide our supporters toward ways to bolster those efforts.

No matter where you are located, recent disasters remind all of us that preparedness is of critical importance. Everyone should take this as an opportunity to make sure your loved ones — including humans and animals — are ready for situations where you may need to shelter in place or evacuate. There are a variety of resources available online, focused on how to make sure your animal companions are part of your plan:
