New Jersey lawmakers are considering the Humane Pet Store Bill (S.2511/A.4051) to stop the puppy-mill-to-pet-store pipeline into New Jersey. This bill would ban the retail sale of puppies, kittens, and rabbits in the state. Instead of selling mill-bred animals, pet stores would be encouraged to partner with animal shelters or rescue groups to offer rescued animals for adoption, in addition to selling companion animal products.
