New Jersey lawmakers are considering the Humane Pet Store Bill (S.2511/A.4051) to stop the puppy-mill-to-pet-store pipeline into the state. This bill would ban the retail sale of puppies, kittens, and rabbits in New Jersey. Instead of selling mill-bred animals, pet stores would be encouraged to partner with animal shelters or rescue groups to offer rescued animals for adoption, in addition to selling companion-animal products and services.
Make your voice heard by contacting your state representatives today. As their constituent, please urge them to tell Senate President Scutari and Speaker Coughlin to end the puppy mill pipeline by allowing S.2511/A.4051 to be posted on the next committee agenda. It is important to note that you are aware that the bill sponsors and committee chairs can also be contacted, but that you are specifically requesting that your representatives advocate for the bill with leadership.
Personalizing your message, or even just the subject line, can help it stand out.
