COTATI, Calif. — On Saturday, July 16, 2016, the Animal Legal Defense Fund, the nation’s leading legal advocacy organization for animals, will host a ribbon-cutting and open house reception to celebrate the opening of its new eco-friendly office building in Cotati.
“With the organization’s rapid growth, expanding our office space was inevitable. And because animal and environmental protection are so closely linked, we created a carbon neutral work space, with solar panels and energy saving measures,” says Animal Legal Defense Fund Executive Director Stephen Wells.
Supporters and members of the community are welcome to attend the official opening of the organization’s new headquarters. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served while attendees learn more about the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s campaigns and meet with its animal protection attorneys.
Located at 525 East Cotati Ave, Cotati CA 94931, the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s new building is operated completely on solar power and the employees’ pets are always welcome on site. Among the new office’s sustainable features are automatic lighting which turns on and off by motion detection and dims or goes off based on the level of light in the room and an electric car charger in the parking lot that can charge two cars at once. During construction, most of the materials removed from the structure were either recycled or donated to Habitat for Humanity for resuse.
