A Bill to Ban the Sale of Fur Products (Hawaii)
An Act Relating to Animal Fur Products (S.B. 682)
This bill would ban the sale of new fur products in Hawaii, reducing the demand driving the fur industry.
If enacted, S.B. 682 would ban the sale of new fur products in Hawaii, including fur clothing and accessories. This legislation would not impact the sale of used or second-hand fur products, or those that are used in the practice of a religion.
Foxes, minks, chinchillas, and other animals raised and killed for their fur are cruelly confined for virtually their entire lives. To preserve their skin and fur for the fashion industry, these animals are typically killed through suffocation, electrocution, or being beaten to death.
Why is this legislation important?
Banning the sale of new fur products in Hawaii would reduce the demand driving the cruel fur industry.
