Zoe Robertson

Zoe Robertson is a civil litigation fellow at the Animal Legal Defense Fund, where she works to create a legal system that treats all beings with dignity and respect.

Zoe graduated from Yale College, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology and political science. She earned her law degree with pro bono distinction from Stanford Law School. While at Stanford, Zoe led the Stanford Animal Protection Project and served as an articles editor for the Stanford Law Review. Her student note, “The End of Antibiotics: How Opioid-Style Litigation Against Industrial Animal Agriculture Could Forfend a Pandemic,” is forthcoming in volume 29 of the Stanford Law Review; it received the second-prize Olaus and Adolph Murie Award for Environmental Law as well as the John Hart Ely Prize. Additionally, a white paper she co-authored explicating shortcomings in California’s regulation of the dairy industry was covered by Sentient Media and SFGate.

She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband.
