Lindsay G. Barnett

Senior Writer

As the senior writer, Lindsay helps to provide insight and information about the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s vital work to our supporters and the broader public.

Lindsay began writing professionally about animal protection issues while working in the newsroom of the Los Angeles Times, where she wrote and edited the organization’s animal blog, in addition to serving as a digital producer and deputy social media editor. Later, she followed her passion for animal-focused communications to a nonprofit farmed animal rescue and advocacy organization, where she handled writing, editing, social media management, and digital production with a goal of increasing public awareness about the abuses farmed animals face, as well as their remarkable intelligence and sensitivity. In addition to animal-centric nonprofit work, she has also handled communications duties for a charity that serves young people with developmental challenges. A longtime Animal Legal Defense Fund fan prior to joining the team, she’s delighted to be able to serve the organization’s mission through her work.

She lives in the Los Angeles area with her partner and rescue pup, and outside of working hours can be found singing and playing the guitar, leading all-breed dog play groups, advocating for gun violence prevention efforts, and serving as designated taste tester for her partner’s amazing plant-based cooking.
