The Florida House Criminal Justice Subcommittee is considering a bill that would protect dogs and cats by creating a Courtroom Animal Advocate Program in Florida. H.B. 297, if passed, would allow volunteer attorneys to serve as special advocates in animal cruelty cases, providing research and recommendations to the judge to ensure that the best interests of the animal are being considered in the courtroom.
