This bill will both strengthen current cruelty laws and make it a crime to interfere with investigations into animal abuse and neglect.

Govenor Tina Kotek of Oregon signed H.B. 4043, which will both strengthen current cruelty laws and make it a crime to interfere with investigations into animal abuse and neglect. The law will take effect on June 9, 2024. The bill was strongly supported by the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
