Jenny Powers

Communications Director

As ALDF’s Communications Director, Jenny develops and drives ALDF’s communications strategy to elevate the organization as a trusted voice on animal legal issues, deepen its engagement with supporters and the public, and advance its mission.

For over twenty years, Jenny has designed and executed strategic communications campaigns to achieve nonprofit advocacy goals, build brand profiles, and make the world a better place.

Prior to joining ALDF, Jenny served as Chief Communications Officer for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), an international nonprofit environmental advocacy group. In her 18 years at NRDC, Jenny designed and drove multi-faceted communications campaigns to advance wildlife, climate, and public health policy. She began her career at NRDC on the media relations team before creating new marketing, executive communications, and entertainment partnerships teams for the organization. She got her start at Cathy Saypol Public Relations, where she promoted a range of documentaries and non-fiction books, supporting clients such as the National Geographic Channel.

Jenny has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Dramatic Literature from New York University. She lives in New York City with her husband and relentlessly joyful rescue pup, Lucy. In her spare time, she volunteers at the NYC Animal Care Center (NYCACC), enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, and loves traveling to new places.
