Erin Smith

Associate General Counsel

As Associate General Counsel, Erin provides internal legal advice and support to the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Before joining the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Erin was in-house counsel at a global nonprofit organization. Prior to her in-house roles, Erin was a corporate associate at the law firm Faegre Drinker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Erin graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, received a Master’s in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, and her B.A. in Biology from Wesleyan University. While in law school, she was an Associate Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and Co-Director of the Penn Animal Law Project.

Erin lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her husband and rescue dog, Lucy.
