Emily Hoffman

Associate General Counsel

Emily serves as Associate General Counsel at ALDF. She works to provide legal support across teams to ensure the organization is able to serve animals and operate smoothly and effectively.

Emily graduated cum laude from Case Western Reserve Law School and magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Bowling Green State University. While in law school, Emily worked in the Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic, for Legal Aid of Western Ohio, and at the Lucas County Sixth District Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining the team at ALDF, Emily worked for The Humane League, first as a Legal Fellow, then as Staff Attorney, and finally as Associate Counsel. She is proud of the work she did to enable THL to make the world a better place for hens. While working at THL, Emily did several volunteer projects to support animal advocacy, including historical research for inclusion in Prop 12 briefs.

Emily lives in Toledo, Ohio, with her rescue cats, Penny, Remy, George Murphy, and Beanie. She is devoted to the daily New York Times crossword (7+ years strong!) and other word games and loves to read classic novels and mysteries. Emily is passionate about biology and ecology, and loves to collect facts about animals and the natural world. She also loves to travel, and plans to visit Greece, Japan, and Scotland in the near future.
