Brittany Peet
Transparency and Regulatory Affairs Program Director
Brittany Peet has devoted her legal career to advancing the interests of animals and brings more than 16 years of animal law experience to her role as Director of the Transparency and Regulatory Affairs Program (TRAP). TRAP works on behalf of animals in laboratories, puppy mills, the entertainment industry, and factory farms through data gathering and analysis, strategic litigation support, and regulatory advocacy.
Before joining ALDF, Brittany led the PETA Foundation’s Captive Animal Law Enforcement division, where she led a multidisciplinary team advocating for wild and exotic animals exploited in roadside zoos, traveling shows, and the pet trade. Under her leadership, the team helped shut down dozens of abusive facilities and facilitated the rescues of hundreds of animals. She also collaborated on precedent-setting litigation advancing protections for captive wildlife.
Brittany’s expertise has been featured in major media outlets, and she appeared in the Emmy-nominated documentary series Tiger King and Chimp Crazy, where she discussed the legal and ethical issues surrounding the private ownership of exotic animals.
Brittany lives in Michigan with her beloved dog, Leonard, and is an avid gardener who enjoys cultivating native plants for the enjoyment of her neighborhood pollinators.
