The ALDF’s Pro Bono Program (PBP) leads the nation’s largest Pro Bono Network for animal protection. Working to expand the practice and understanding of animal law in the legal community, the Pro Bono Program partners with law professionals and pro bono coordinators across the country to support ALDF litigation, legislative, criminal justice, regulatory, education, and operational projects. Although ALDF doesn’t typically share internal projects with non-attorneys, we may do so on occasion and paralegal members are invited to participate in ALDF Lobby Days, attend animal law conferences, symposia, webinars and networking events, sign action alerts on critical and timely animal protection initiatives, spread the word about important animal law issues through ALDF’S Remote Online Advocacy Representatives (ROAR) program, and more.

The Pro Bono Program also provides Pro Bono Network attorney members with the opportunity to provide volunteer legal support on community legal assistance requests. Examples of these requests include animal-friendly organizations needing contract, employment, or real estate guidance, and community members seeking guidance on matters involving animal law, including animal custody disputes, dangerous dog designations, landlord/tenant matters, service animal issues, animal advocate guidance, animals harmed by neighbors, and more. In some instances, paralegal members may receive requests circulated on behalf of Pro Bono Network attorney members to assist with these matters.

Please note that volunteer opportunities can be infrequent in nature and are circulated on an as-needed basis.

As a paralegal member, you’ll receive these membership benefits:

  • ALDF’s Newsletter: The Animals’ Advocate
  • E-mail updates on cases, news, and events
  • E-mail updates on volunteer, education, and employment opportunities
  • ALDF folder, pen, sticker & more.

This application is your first step toward getting involved with our Pro Bono Program. Please complete the membership application below, and you’ll be directed to a payment form where you can submit your $15 membership fee.
