The Animal Legal Defense Fund has received a four-star rating for the third consecutive year on Charity Navigator, the leading charity evaluator website in America. By sharing more information and results, 4-star rated nonprofits transcend the simplistic financial metrics of the past and offer their supporters more meaningful, sophisticated measures of success and social change, proving their trustworthiness.
Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating is the highest rating available, and it has only been achieved by a very select set of organizations multiple years in a row. Only 16 percent of the 1.5 million evaluated nonprofits have ever received a 4-star rating for three consecutive years.
“As the nation’s leading legal advocacy organization for animals, we are dedicated to helping those without a voice,” says Animal Legal Defense Fund Executive Director Stephen Wells. “Receiving the highest rating for three years in a row is a reflection of our commitment to that mission and to transparency. We for which we routinely advocate for transparency in law and policy, and are proud to embody it for our supporters, who deserve to know exactly what we are doing to further the interests of animals through the legal system.”
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is also recognized as a Platinum status nonprofit on Guidestar, is an accredited charity by the Better Business Bureau and a “Best in America” charity by Independent Charities of America (fewer than 5% of charities in America receive this designation).
