The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Regulatory Specialist for its Regulatory Affairs section to work closely with the U.S. Department of Interior and U.S. Department of Commerce on animal protection issues. The main responsibility of this position is to work under the direction of the Director of Regulatory Affairs to cultivate relationships with regulatory agencies and support the development and enforcement of federal regulations to protect animals. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent along with prior experience working with federal agencies to develop and enforce regulations is highly desirable. Understanding of the laws implemented by the U.S. Department of Interior and U.S. Department of Commerce to protect animals is required. Ability to digest complex scientific data is needed along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
