COTATI, Calif.—The Animal Legal Defense Fund has received Platinum status on GuideStar, the premier nonprofit ranking website. The organization is now part of an elite tier of nonprofit organizations recognized for leading the way in social change by demonstrating a commitment to measuring progress and sharing results.
GuideStar Platinum is the highest ranking available, and it has only been achieved by a very select set of organizations. The Animal Legal Defense Fund is one of only 800 Platinum nonprofits out of a total of 1.8 million organizations. By sharing more information and results, Platinum-ranked nonprofits transcend the simplistic financial metrics of the past and offer their supporters more meaningful, sophisticated measures of success and social change.
“As the nation’s leading legal advocacy organization for animals, we have always been unique,” says Animal Legal Defense Fund Executive Director Stephen Wells. “Being a part of this special group reflects our dedication to transparency and showing our supporters exactly what we are doing to further the interests of animals through the legal system.”
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is also recognized as a four-star charity on Charity Navigator, it is an accredited charity by the Better Business Bureau, and a “Best in America” charity by Independent Charities of America (fewer than 5% of charities in America receive this designation).
