Ron Beggs is a fifteen year veteran of the Dearborn, Michigan Police Department. He was recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and is responsible for overseeing the Midnight Platoon’s patrol operations. Prior to being promoted to lieutenant Ron served as a detective sergeant in the Investigative Division where he was responsible for investigating criminal acts. Ron is also a lecturer in the Criminal Justice Studies Department at the University of Michigan (Dearborn).
During his time as a detective, Ron investigated numerous high-profile cases involving crimes from homicide to animal cruelty. Ron was the detective-in-charge of the investigation into alleged animal hoarder Kenneth Lang Jr. who was found to have over 100 live and 150 deceased Chihuahuas in his home. It was during this investigation that Ron saw firsthand the tragic consequences of hoarding behavior involving animals. Ron also saw the overwhelming response of dedicated officers and prosecutors, caring volunteers and generous community members who were determined to do whatever was necessary to rescue and care for the affected dogs.
