Abby Wallace – Assistant District Attorney General

Abby Wallace has been a prosecutor for more than 12 years, and is currently an Assistant District Attorney General for the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to this position, Abby worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the El Paso County District Attorney’s Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is a graduate of the University of Denver, College of Law.

Abby has prosecuted hundreds of cases involving homicide, sexual assault, crimes against children and the elderly, as well as animal cruelty. Currently, Abby is assigned to the Special Victims Unit where she specializes in prosecuting the sexual and physical abuse of children. Previously, Abby was assigned to the Special Prosecution Unit, where she began focusing on animal cruelty cases.

One of these cases concerned alleged animal cruelty on the part of personnel from the Memphis Animal Shelter, namely the lead veterinarian, the shelter director, and the technician supervisor. As these individuals are being tried separately, only one case, the case involving the lead veterinarian, has gone to trial to date. Although the jury acquitted the veterinarian, Abby intends to try the remaining defendants and hold them accountable for the starvation deaths of three animals in their care.

In her free time, in addition to caring for six rescue cats, Abby is a volunteer at the House of Mews, a long standing Memphis area cat rescue, where she assists in the care of over 150 cats who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned.
