Animals Used for Experiments in Wisconsin Need You!

Victory! Proposal shielding UW research records removed from budget!

In February, ALDF asked for your assistance to prevent Governor Walker’s budget from exempting the University of Wisconsin from complying with the state’s Open Records act. That exemption would enable UW’s medical labs to avoid having to let Wisconsin taxpayers know what abusive procedures they are performing in state facilities, such as the awful experiments on baby monkeys scheduled to begin in June.

The Wisconsin State Legislature is now focusing attention on the budget, and we need your help to remove this dangerous portion of the budget bill!

Last week, the Legislative Fiscal Bureau released a list of 49 budget items that are “primarily of a non-fiscal nature and not closely related to the state’s fiscal programs.” Republican Senator Rob Cowles is now wisely calling for the removal of all 49 non-fiscal policy provisions from the budget including the UW open records exemption.

Please speak up for baby monkeys, cats, and other animals condemned to lives of terror in research labs by urging your state legislators to heed Senator Cowles’s call to remove all non-fiscal policy items from S.B. 21/A.B. 21!
