Jail Time in Dog Burning Case
On December 1, 2010 Decarlos Lashawn Young & Kristian Dennard Jackson pled guilty to two felonies: animal killing/torturing and arson of real property. Both defendants were habitual third-time felony offenders and they pled to that as well. On December 16, 2010 Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway sentenced Young, who was on probation for a child abuse conviction, to serve 48 months to 8 years, and Jackson is to serve 13 months to 8 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Thank you to everyone who wrote letters, made phone calls and attended the court proceedings! Attorneys

(Wayne County, MI) Kristian Dennard Jackson & Decarlos Lashawn Young are facing criminal charges related
to the alleged gross abuse of a pit bull in August 2010. They
allegedly set the young dog on fire after a failed attempt at hanging
her to death. A bystander was reportedly able to videotape this
terrible incident with a cell phone camera. Investigators were unable
to recover the dog’s body, it is believed that her remains were
discarded in the trash and hauled away.
Such cruelty, and indeed the expanse of criminal activity that accompanies dogfighting,
demands meaningful justice from the criminal courts, and local
citizens are encouraged to actively show their support for this
