Jail Time for Men Who Tortured and Discarded Kitten

Posted on April 14, 2008

(4/30/08) Pleading no contest and guilty to aggravated animal abuse, both Robert Wagner and Cody Scheewe were sentenced to serve jail time – 13 months for Wagner and 9 months for Scheewe.  The sentences included orders for mental health evaluations and prohibitions against animal contact.

(Portland, OR) Cody Allen Scheewe and Robert J. Wagner face felony charges of animal cruelty for allegedly torturing and then disposing of a roommate’s two-month-old kitten.  The two defendants were reportedly giving the kitten a bath but had neglected to check the water temperature which was dangerously high.  Inexplicably, the two then allegedly proceeded to kill the kitten by chopping her head off, taking several hatchet blows to do so.  The kitten’s body was thrown over a property-line fence and later recovered by authorities.
