Due to a
federal immigration violation, Severino Cruz was deported to Mexico
before facing prosecution by the State of Connecticut for the charges
of animal cruelty. Should Mr. Cruz re-enter the United States, the
prosecution could resume as per a re-arrest warrant issued by the
Connecticut court on May 22, 2008.

In July 2008, Enrique Cruz – charged with animal cruelty related to the alleged neglect of his puppy – was put into an “accelerated rehabilitation” program wherein the charges against him may be dismissed following the successful completion of a 2-year probation period.

(Plainville, CT)
Arrested in January 2008, Severino Cruz and his brother Enrique Cruz
face charges of animal cruelty for alleged neglect and malicious abuse.
Reportedly in a rage upon hearing that a 3-year-old pit bull named Baby
had bitten his nephew’s arm, Severino Cruz grabbed the dog by her
chain, pushed her up against her cage and drilled a series of holes
into her skull with a power drill. Baby was euthanized shortly
thereafter. The act was discovered by Severino’s brother and nephew
when they returned home from the hospital where the boy’s wound had
been treated. Upon investigation, police additionally discovered a
severely neglected puppy (Baby’s) on the premises – that puppy, which
belonged to Enrique Cruz, was seized and put up for adoption. Enrique
Cruz was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty while Severino Cruz
faced both misdemeanor and felony charges of animal cruelty.
