Michigan: Please Attend Wayne County Court Proceeding on Wednesday Morning, November 17th

Kristian Jackson & Decarlos Young of Wayne County, Michigan are facing criminal charges related to the alleged gross abuse of a pit bull. They allegedly set the young dog on fire after a failed attempt at hanging him to death, and videotaped the burning dog with their cell phone camera.

Locals are encouraged to support the prosecution by attending the arraignment and to write polite letters to the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney. More information can be found here.

  1. MJ Murphy says:

Letter written and faxed to the Prosecutor’s office.
Attended court today, the judge was going to be in later this morning, so the case was delayed until tomorrow, same time.

I will attend tomorrow morning as well – apparently, the judge does not like a lot of scrutiny so these high profile cases get delayed many times. We shall see…

Excellent attendance by the two Michigan Humane Society officers who responded to the case and 7 of their MHS colleagues as well as reporters from the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit News (Doug Guthrie) and cameramen from Fox TV and Channel 4 (WDIV, NBC).

As a footnote – several Detroit-area animal supporters are confusing this case with a similar recent case of a dog being intentionally set on fire. I sadly want to inform everyone that this is a separate case…different animal. Lady, the animal recently set on fire; is still alive and in the warm hands of the MHS staff now.
