Gracie Kicks Up Her Heels

Posted by April Nockleby, ALDF's Online Content Manager on September 10, 2009

Jennifer from the United States Equine Rescue League recently sent us these wonderful pictures of Gracie kicking up her heels while her mom Lacy has a bite to eat. Gracie is three months old now and, according to Jennifer, she’s growing like a weed.

Last December, Lacy, an Arabian mare, was close to death from colic and
the burden of carrying a foal with no food or nutritional support. Her
hipbones, backbone, and ribs were all protruding from her skin,
indicating an advanced state of malnutrition and starvation. She was
rushed to the North Carolina State College School of Veterinary
Medicine for critical care.

In May, Lacy gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl, who was named "Gracie" by ALDF supporters.
