Thanks to the Prosecution for Jail Time in Dog Starvation Case
Posted on January 14, 2008
ISSUE:
(Alachua County, Florida) Thanks to earnest prosecution, Calvin Louis Sears was sentenced to 364 days in jail after he pleaded no contest to felony animal cruelty and misdemeanor animal neglect. When rescued by authorities, Sears’ dog was approximately 20lbs. underweight – the dog had been confined to a cage and was covered in filth. Assistant State Attorney Geoff Fleck takes animal cruelty seriously and understands its detrimental impact in a community.
