December is for many a time to practice generosity, deliberate generosity not only toward the near and the dear, but also toward the not so near - and indeed even the not so dear. It’s traditionally a time to acknowledge those who make our personal worlds go ‘round, and indulge in the hopefulness which each beginning year seems to offer.
But our companion animals don’t need a calendar to remind them to be generous. They give us comfort and they give us joy, December or March, May or September. Among the most generous even are those animals who live by the “It’s all about me” credo (you know who they are!), as they steadfastly keep us laughing and on our toes with their insistent antics.
Here at ALDF we are confronted each day of the year with companion animals who are given no comfort and allowed no joy – making us all the more appreciative when we are reminded of all the animals who are safe and sound in loving homes, fully acknowledged for their year-round generosity.
