Anti-Cruelty and Environmental Policy
It is the mission of ALDF to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. To support that mission, ALDF strives to create an office atmosphere that encourages and supports the best practices and products available to reduce the suffering of and harm to nonhuman animals.
Consistent with this mission, ALDF staff and volunteers agree that they will not introduce into any ALDF office, or at any ALDF function outside the office (e.g., staff lunches, meetings, etc.), products that are derived, in whole or in part, from an animal. Such products include, but are not limited to, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products (including milk, yogurt, and cheese), leather, and wool. This prohibition does not apply to products to be used for the purpose of educating the public about animal cruelty.
In addition, ALDF staff and volunteers will not purchase products that are tested on animals for use in any ALDF office or ALDF function.
To minimize its organizational impact on the environment, ALDF strives to reduce consumption of durable and consumable goods; we will reuse or purchase used or recycled products rather than new products, and we will recycle as much solid waste as possible.
It is our goal through this policy both to minimize actual harm done to all animals and their/our environment and to demonstrate and promote the availability and utility of cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly products and services.
